IV: Religion

The people of Urd Thlol have always paid an almost superstitious respect to the wise, quick crow. They also look up with great devotion to the bright, steadfast orb known as the Wayfarer's Star, the first celestial body to appear at the end of the day. Their official pantheon, however, is the same as the rest of the continent.

THE ELEVEN DIVINITIES

Aluralyn Life-Giver, Goddess of Birth

Yyrkana Thread-Cutter, Goddess of Death

Aive Day-Bringer, God of the Sun

Orumaralon Wave-Spinner, God of the Sea

Sendra Truth-Speaker, Goddess of Wisdom

Gordash Crow-Glutter, God of War

Urell Heart-Lifter, Goddess of Song

Varodrim Storm-Walker, God of Thunder

Luthil Joy-Flinger, God of Wine

Zarhold Shape-Maker, God of Craft

Serathalium All-Mother, Goddess of the Earth

THE ONE ABOVE

His sacred Name is spoken only by the high priests, on the holiest days, in the most hushed and reverential of tones. Atahocan is the One True God beyond all Gods, the Creator of the universe and Sustainer of all things. No living man has heard His Voice or seen His Face.

THE ONE BELOW

Known variously as the Dark Lord, the Dark Will, or simply The Dark, this horrible entity is the king of all devils and the Master of Hell. It is said (in trembling whispers) that he was the firstborn of the One Above, only to betray his Lord and Father, thereby exiling himself from the Light forever. No one knows the truth, but to speak of the One Below is to invite one's own ruination.

Unlike the One Above, the voice of the Dark Lord is occasionally heard in the mortal realm. He never speaks in his own person, but always through the mouths of the possessedand those who hear him are fortunate to escape with their bodies and their souls.
